We’re Kicking It Old School With 7 Traditional Marketing Tools!

4. Referrals:

This is a slow but sure way to grow a business. Referrals are the best because someone who has hired you or purchased from you had a great experience and has shared this information with that referral, this will always counts toward a new customer being halfway through the door. The potential new client has heard from a trustworthy source to them, that the service you provide or the product you sell is worth their time and money. Again, take into consideration the word “Fifty percent” chance of them hiring you, half the work here is already done, now it is just a matter of you closing in on the deal. My tip to you: Do take your referrals seriously, they are almost at the finish line and you just have to guide them in to the last yards and you have scored yourself a new client.

5. Loyalty program & giveaways

Why not?

People love freebies, regardless of what the gift is. Be creative and tie it into your service of product. People will come back to you and track the number of visits. My local pizza place will give me a free soda or slice of regular pizza worth about $1.50 after five visits.

If you do the math, I will have to prepay $0.30 in each visit, keep in mind my average check when I go is roughly $20 to $30 a visit.

After five visits, I have already spent about $125 for a dollar and change gift and I am thrilled about it. So financially for the pizza place it is a win win situation and I as a customer keep going back eagerly waiting to win my free pizza.

Same would apply for a service provider, many will provide a free first service as a way to get the client in. If you are a financial adviser or tax preparer, you may be providing a free initial analysis of the personal information from the potential client, once the client is there it is up to you to sell yourself with your knowledge and expertise, but you have most certainly brought them through the door.

6. Handshake:

Think old school, in faraway land where lawyers and contracts did not come into play, when a handshake was as good as gold.

A simple yet firm and strong handshake will go a long way. Every one you meet regardless of when and where you are, always always have a nice firm handshake accompanied by a clear pronunciation of your name and your business.

When you have the simple courtesy of greeting people in a room upon your arrival, people will never forget you.

As I attend the many events, I do a year I am surprised how common curtesy and manners have seemed to have disappeared, and often do I leave an event without knowing peoples name or what they do. A lost opportunity for sure, remember your best cheerleader is you, and only you know how to sell what you have to offer.

So, go out and properly introduce yourself at events, salute people, tell them about you, what you do, what you offer, ENGAGE!

7. Print Business Cards:

I will tie this one in to number 3, only because my number one rule is, that as simple as a business card is you may want to think of having this professionally designed as well.

Size, shape, text, information, tag line, image and so on and so forth. All very important elements for such a small space to print on for sure, but the end result will be the one thing people keep to reach out to you once they are ready to hire you.

Think of your business card as a mini billboard about you.

In summary there is no reason for you to not start selling your services or products to the market, with the above suggestions you are only helping your business grow but you are also establishing yourself in the market.

Once the traction starts happening you will only move forward.
