There’s a Fash-App for that!!!

Hello Fashionistas,

Hopefully you have all gotten well adjusted to the Daylight Savings time change this week. It’s always a rough switch up to be leaving our offices in the pitch dark evening hours of the fall season and soon to be winter days. No one likes that, but the upside is, it leads us into the festive holiday season—and directly into Spring 2015!!!!
It has been one crazy busy market week in NY this week…so much going on and all of our accounts wanting to get a first-hand look at all the new fashion trends for Fall 2015!!!
Most of you already know that my job as Design Director keeps me busy shopping everywhere to round up the newest fashion trends–new silhouettes, new fabrics, new colors—all the newness going on in the fashion world! Being a part of a company that relies on keeping up with the trends, we do subscribe to forecasting services. These are industry services that are already divulging super secret trend information for Spring 2016 and believe it or not, I have some retailers already asking about trends for that far out!
Spring 2016, Fall 2015–that seems a bit far out there for the majority of us to think about in our everyday lives. I think many of you would be thrilled just to know what to expect for the upcoming Spring 2015 season. That much knowledge is enough to set your hearts and wallets aflutter!
I have to say that when I first entered this line of work, the digital age was not yet upon us and having insight to trends was incredibly challenging, but these days we have so much information available at our fingertips (literally). That being said, being able to curate through all of the websites, apps, and blogs out there that contain great trend information can definitely become overwhelming. I’ve spent lots of time finding some of the best apps that are super easy to pop onto when you even just have a spare 5 minutes to keep yourself abreast of what’s going on in the fashion world! It’s important for me to stay abreast of all things fashion and these are just a few of the ones I use regularly…..
Here are my favorites!!

If you have the luxury to go to the full website, definitely check it out as you can read “The Edit” which gives you all of the most updated info on the “it” silhouettes, trends, colors, beauty products, celebrities, etc!!

If you only have access to the app, it’s still great as you can quickly see new trend concepts and what clothing and accessories are just hitting the floor at some of your favorite retail stores.

Granted, they give information from accessible names like J. Crew, Nike, Equipment and work upwards to pricier names like Theory, Michael Kors, Tori Burch, Stella McCartney, and up to even higher inspirational designer names like Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, and Dior just to name a few brands–you name it they show it! I think it’s a great way to get inspired as to the overall trends happening and even if you can’t afford the clothes, now you know what you can keep your eyes open for when you’re shopping at H&M, Zara, etc.

Net-A-Porter’s “The Edit” Gives You Tons of Info at a Quick Glance

This is a site that has updated “looks” posted often from their own Polyvore team as well as contributing content providers who have as varied backgrounds from bloggers, fashion designers, eclectic artists, and super trendy fun fashion followers. Once you find an entry you like with a look that you want to try, you can easily find out where you can purchase all of the clothes and accessories to create the look!

You can even put together outfits with accessories and publish to social media outlets–super fun for sharing some of your favorite looks.

Get the look–“Young Blood”. This is a sophisticated boho vibe. Fall 2014 is all about chubby fur vests and coats.

How you can actually get “the look”–love this–total ease of shopping from the comfort of your own computer or handheld device

Creating my “looks” on Polyvore–This one is called Smart Scuba Dressing. A bit sexy and sporty at the same time.

Moda ‘Operandi

This website/app allows you to shop designer collections within an hour after their show is over.

They curate many well known designers, but also keep up with many newer, up and coming designers as well.

You can view a quick little photo gallery to see all the items in the collection and if you like something, you can go to pre-order

One of my new favorite collections is Spring/Summer 2015 Aquilano Rimondi

This app covers all things from fashion, beauty, home, celebrities, fitness, love & sex, food, etc. You can choose which categories you want to follow.
Since there’s so much info, I have mine edited down to just a couple of categories so I can quickly browse through the newest stories more quickly–obviously the fashion category is one of them!

One of the newer posts on Popsugar that has great ideas for reinvigorating a dreary fall wardrobe

Winter White is a HUGE trend this season. I’m so on it–I have about 4 new winter white outfits. Just be careful with your morning coffee!!

Leather pencil skirt in one of the season’s hottest colors which I’ve already informed you followers about–Oxblood Red

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!! I do NOT have this look in my wardrobe yet, but it’s about to happen. How creative is this skinny rib tube top that slips right over a crisp white button front shirt? And this is why it’s great to stay well informed because trends are just a click away!! Keep your eyes peeled for skinny ribs making a big comeback too!

There are so many websites and apps to keep us inspired by fashion. I am always amazed by the creativity of some of the people who post their looks. That’s the best way to stay abreast of fashion–by just watching the regular everyday people pull their looks together. Have fun playing with these apps! I’ll be checking out the newest posts tomorrow morning on my commute and planning next week’s wardrobe!
