Keep it Simple
Keeping it simple is the name of the game for me these days. There is always something more to buy and a new gadget out there. Keeping up with the Jones’ has never served me well and I never liked them much anyway. So, when making decisions on things like printers, memory, and other items, look for things that are compatible to each other.
Personally, I am a big fan of Apple products (no surprise) and having things match up makes life much easier. Sometimes paying a bit more is well worth it in the long run.
Ask for help
One of my best resources I have these days regarding modern technology and staying current in this fast-paced world would have to be my four children. Their ages range from 22-13 so I am clearly safe regarding what the latest fashion trends, music, technology and language terms are.
I have the classic GQ, Bohemian-Hippy, Preppy and the typical teenager that “just wants to have fun” all under one roof. I can’t get too far without being told that what I am wearing “just doesn’t work” or a nod of the head will quickly do the trick.
When it comes to technology, I often times don’t even need to finish the question. I am not afraid to ask for help and they all know who feeds them! If you don’t have a built-in resource, connect with young people at work. Ask those around you what programs and applications they use. Offer to barter and trade services. I recently needed some computer work and offered to make an apple pie in exchange (my pies are exceptional).
Don’t be afraid to ask and always remember, “You don’t know what you don’t know.”
At the end of the day, whether the language terms have changed or the technology is more “advanced”, we still find ourselves rushing through life and doing the same thing over and over, yet still longing for Bedgasm, (n), A feeling of euphoria experienced when climbing into bed at the end of a very long day.
