7 Successful Hispanic Vineyards Making an Impact

4.   Quintessa Vineyards and Winery

Agustin and Valeria Huneeus are the proprietors of Quintessa Vineyards and Winery in the Napa Valley. Agustin, a Chilean immigrant, has devoted his entire life to winemaking. In Chile, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Concha y Toro, a small winemaking operation that under his direction grew to be the largest winemaker in Chile.

Political unrest in that country in the early 1970s caused both Agustin and Valeria to leave. He became the executive in charge of Seagram’s winemaking operations with facilities in seven countries including the United States. He and Valeria, an expert vintner in her own right, have devoted their time since 1999 to making Quintessa a world-class winemaking facility.

The couple has succeeded in their dream; the vineyard’s wines have won numerous awards and they now have wineries in Chile and the Alexander Valley in addition to their Napa winery.
